Day 1 : Melbourne
Travel to Melbourne.

Day 2 : Melbourne
Starts in Melbourne before 12 noon. Drive through Ned Kelly country, the Milawa Gourmet Region and King Valley wine producing area to Mount Buffalo National Park. Stroll through snowgum woodlands to Lake Catani, where the Minjambuta Aboriginal tribe used to feast on Bogong moths - considered a real delicacy. What an idyllic place this would have been to conduct corroborees! A second walk traces the rim of dramatic Buffalo Gorge where daring hang gliders leap into space. Day 3 : Eagle Point
A remote circuit walk featuring several magnificent lookouts. Perched up high on Eagle Point, climbing the ladders to Mount Dunn's summit and standing on top of the Horn you'll have a bird's-eye view to the distant horizon! Overnight accommodation: Mount Buffalo National Park

Days 4 : Kosciuszko National Park
The final Buffalo walk heads off amongst huge granite tors and striking snowgums to the unusual Monolith. Then drive up the scenic Alpine Way to the Kosciuszko National Park. Overnight accommodation: Thredbo

Day 5 : Mount Kosciuszko
A real highlight - walk to the summit of the highest mountain in Australia, Mount Kosciuszko. This mountain is a mecca for walkers and you will share the summit with people from all over the world. The longest chairlift in the country helps with the steepest part! Hardy walkers can choose to take Merrits Track steeply down through unique mountain ash forests and waterfall valleys or Dead Horse Gap track amongst the wild brumbies (horses). Day 6 : Kosciuszko National Park
There's time for sightseeing, a spot of golf or tennis or other sporting activities in Thredbo before driving through Kosciuszko National Park to Perisher Valley. Today's walk heads upwards to Porcupine Rocks for spectacular views of the Great Dividing Range. The ancient snowgum trees here are twisted and gnarled through centuries of harsh winters. After rain or fog these tree trunks change colour to brilliant shades of red, orange, yellow and green. Overnight accommodation: Jindabyne

Day 7 : Glacial lakes
Did you know that Australia has glacial lakes? You will see several on this walk above the tree-line. Cross the famous Snowy River, walk through fields carpeted in wildflowers, stroll along high grassy ridges and chill your drink in an icy lake. Watch out for spaghnum bogs - large mossy plants that hold six times their weight in water then slowly release it into the alpine streams. Overnight accommodation: Jindabyne

Day 8 : Canberra
Drive across the vast Monaro Plains to Canberra, the nation's capital city. Several short strolls around Canberra's scenic spots plus plenty of time for sightseeing - highlights include the new Parliament House, the National Gallery, the poignant Australian War Memorial Museum and the Questacom Science Museum (extra cost). Day 9 : Blue Mountains
Drive through pretty countryside to the Blue Mountains National Park. The walking begins with an easy climb to the highest point in the mountains, Mount Piddington, followed by a descent through remote forest into the heart of Cox's Cave. Marvel at the tenacity of the early explorers who forged a route through this rugged terrain! Overnight accommodation: Leura

Day 10 : Bridal Veil Falls
Skirt around sheer cliff tops to see Bridal Veil Falls plummet 180 metres in a single drop! Take an exhilarating ride down the Scenic Railway into the depths of the rainforest then retrace the route used by coal miners over 100 years ago. Learn the Aboriginal legend of how the famous Three Sisters were formed as you ascend the 862 steps of the Giant Stairway. Overnight accommodation: Leura

Day 11 : Sydney
The setting for the grand finale is the Blue Mountains Waterfall Valley. The route winds its way past waterfalls, beneath overhanging cliffs and through magnificent grottos. A real highlight today is the 'mid-cliff' walk along a wide path that has been carved into the sheer cliff face! Handrails, ladders and airy lookouts provide stunning views over vast tracts of forests. Finish the holiday with a 2 hour drive to Sydney.
