Days 1, 2 and 3 :
Auckland
Arrive in Auckland and stay at a waterfront hotel. See Auckland Harbour
from the deck of a yacht, sample some of Auckland's fine restaurants and
visit the Viaduct Basin, home to the America's Cup syndicates. Walk in the
bush in the nearby Waitakere Hills, picnic and perhaps horseback on a
dramatic West Coast beach.
Days
4 and 5 : Great Barrier Island
Take a plane to remote Great Barrier Island and stay at an undiscovered
uniquely New Zealand small lodge. With only two guest rooms, gourmet meals
included and local guides, you are assured of a memorable experience.
Alternatively take a ferry to Waiheke Island and stay at a contemporary NZ
lodge with easy access to the many vineyards and beaches on the island.
Days 6, 7 and 8 : Okareka
Drive to Lake Okareka near Rotorua. Your lodging here is a luxurious 1930's
private lake house. With its own beach, kayaks, tennis court and fishing
guide as well as the myriad of attractions of Rotorua within ten minutes,
you will have a fabulous stay. Included is an adventure with a local Maori
guide to experience the geothermal and volcanic wonders of the region, some
aspects of Maori culture and to soak in outdoor thermal springs.
Days 9 and 10 :
Christchurch
Fly to Christchurch and transfer to a luxurious Bed and Breakfast. Time to
wander in this lovely city with its great Art Gallery in the Botanic
Gardens, some magnificent private gardens and nearby, Akaroa once a French
settlement.
Day 11 : Southern Alps
Today the Tranzalpine Express will take you on a breathtaking train journey
across the Southern Alps to Greymouth. Stay at Punakaiki and view the famous
Pancake Rocks on the coastline.
Day 12 : Franz Josef
Drive down the West Coast through ancient rainforests to Franz Josef in the
Westland National Park and walk or fly to view the glaciers. Kayak on the
nearby Okarito Lagoon to view the beautiful Kotuku or White Herons.
Day
13 : Lake Wanaka
Drive to Lake Wanaka for a night. Option of guided walking in the Mt
Aspiring National Park.
Day 14, 15 and 16 :
Queenstown
Drive through to Eichardt's Hotel in Queenstown, Blanket Bay Lodge at
Glenorchy or Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown. Choose between vineyard lunches,
walks, golf, spa treatments, meals at award winning restaurants, heli
sightseeing to glaciers or the Milford Sound, daring adventures or gentler
guided excursions such as the Dart River trip or a cruise on Lake Whakatipu.
Day 17 : Manapouri
Drive to Manapouri in Fiordland to be taken over the Wilmot Pass to the
awesome Doubtful Sound for an overnight trip. Opportunities to kayak and
view dolphins. A breathtaking world.
Day 18 : Queenstown
Return to Queenstown for your afternoon flight home.
