Day 1 : Christchurch
- Arthur's Pass National Park
After a fast sightseeing tour of Christchurch, you would travel across the
vast patchwork of the Canterbury Plains into the Southern Alps. In the
centre of the country, you would stay in a high-class resort. The resort is
equipped with all facilities a tourist needs.
Day 2 : High Country, Sheep, Valleys & Keas
Explore alpine plants, animals and the mountains in the high countryside.
You would be taken to a sheep station where you can experience the workings
of a sheep station. You can also assist people with day to day activities
such as feeding the sheep, and mustering or working with sheep dogs. Other
options for the day activities include hiking, mountain biking, canoeing or
simply relaxing amongst the seemingly unending stretches of the Southern
Alps.
Day 3 : Arthur's Pass National Park - Franz Josef
Journey through the Arthur's Pass National Park to the Wild West
Coast. You would travel through heaving mountain valleys, learn of the gold
mining history and explore the home of the Kea - the world's only alpine
parrot. You would like the changing landscape as the alpine scenery
dramatically changes to rugged coastline carved by the Tasman Sea. Then move
southward along the coast to Glacier Country where you stroll to the mighty
Franz Josef Glacier.
Day 4 : Franz Josef - Lake Moeraki
Depart Franz Josef and travel south to Fox Glacier where a prominent
attraction of the tour will be a guided walk atop the Fox Glacier. A
tranquil saunter can also be made to Lake Matheson to view the clear
reflections of the Alps on the Lake. Onto Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge,
your home for the next two nights.
Day 5 : Lake Moeraki
Craggy beaches that are home to the crested penguins and NZ fur seals,
virgin lowland rain forests spread between pristine lakes and rivers which
drain from the snow-capped Southern Alps. Enjoy following the many trails,
paddle a canoe through the soothing lake or fish the pristine waters (catch
& release).
Day 6 : Lake Moeraki -
Queenstown
'Estuaries, explorers, tussocks'
Moving on, you will cross the Alps over the Haast Pass where the forests
give way to golden tussock grasslands. Pass Lakes Hawea and Wanaka, ancient
glacier lakes, and then over the Crown Range to Arrowtown, an old
gold-miners village. See the bungy (or jump yourself!) then into Queenstown
where you will stay for the next three nights at a superior lodge.
Day 7 : Queenstown
'Adventure and relaxing in the mountains' Choose your own adventure from
white water rafting, back country safari, jet boating, horseback riding to
cruising on the lady of the lake - the steamship Earnslaw. Other options
include shopping, playing golf, wine tasting or meander on the art &
craft trail. Relaxing and just enjoying the mountain and lake scenery is
also a good choice.
Day 8 : Queenstown
- Milford Sound - Queenstown

Sounds,
Glacier Lakes, Alps & Fiords'
Travel to majestic Milford Sound enjoying stops to view the many
waterfalls, dramatic landscape and lakes along the way. Learn the story of
Homers Tunnel while enjoying the final descent into Milford. The day is
capped off with a cruise on the Sound out to the Tasman Sea. Have plenty of
film this day in an effort to capture the deeply carved glacial valleys,
ancient forests and incredible scenery throughout this day's journey, truly
a magical place.
Day 9 : Tour Ends
Queenstown
